NEW YORK (AP) —The team announced the hiring of the former Miami Dolphins coach as their head coach Friday after coming to an agreement on Wednesday night.Gase will be formally introduced as the Jets’ coach at a news conference Monday at the team’s facility in Florham Park Laremy Tunsil Jersey , New Jersey. The 40-year-old Gase was 23-26 in three years with Miami, including a playoff game in the 2016 season, before being fired last week.“At the onset of the interview process, I wanted to hire a head coach who was the right person and the right fit for our organization,” Jets chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson said in a statement on the team’s website. “We talked to a number of excellent candidates and it became clear to me that Adam was the person who will help us establish a winning program and a winning culture.”Gase’s hiring ended a wide-open search for New York, which fired Todd Bowles after the season finale and then met with seven other coaches about their vacancy, including Mike McCarthy, Kris Richard Cordrea Tankersley Jersey , Jim Caldwell, Eric Bieniemy, Todd Monken, Matt Rhule and Kliff Kingsbury, who took the Arizona Cardinals job.Gase is the Jets’ first hire with previous full-time NFL head coaching experience since Bill Parcells’ three-year tenure from 1997-99. He’s also the first offense-focused coach since Rich Kotite in 1996. Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Ricardo Louis is joining the Dolphins on a one-year contract, according to Pro Football Talk. Born and raised in Miami, Louis will now return to South Florida to try to restart his NFL career after missing 2018 with a neck injury.Louis was a fourth-round selection by the Browns in 2016 out of Auburn. He played in all 32 games for the Browns his first two seasons, starting 12 times. He has 45 receptions in his career for 562 yards. The former Miami Beach Senior High School product ran a 4.43 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine back in 2016. He will join Jakeem Grant (4.34), Brice Butler (4.37), Kenny Stills (4.38) Jason Sanders Jersey , Albert Wilson (4.43), and DeVante Parker (4.45) in a wide receiver group featuring players who ran a 4.45 or faster 40-yard dash. Miami’s other wide receiver, Isaiah Ford, ran a 4.61.The Browns waived Louis in April. He does not factor into the compensatory draft pick calculations for 2020.
