Is it ethical to make friends with your music teacher? They are professional teachers and you are their student. On another forum (non musical), someone posted a question and that was..... 'should you hug your therapist after a session'? The particular person hugs their therapist after each visit and was asking if it was correct or was the therapist not behaving in a professional manner.
This is what brought me to this post on here because my music teacher hugs her student after the lesson (and I know this because the student is directly before me so I go in at the tail end of their lesson). My music teacher also accompanied me to a piano recital and we had a nice evening out. It was her request not mine to accompany me. We did have a very nice evening but I just wondered whether teacher and pupil should be restricted to the classroom only and how friendly should you get with them?
